We grow with the environment, our customers and the community in mind. We do not use conventional fertilizers or herbicides, instead relying on healthy soils from companion planting, integrated pest management, manures, composts, and OMRI approved fertilizers.
While we are not certified organic, we subscribe to sustainable practices that are generally accepted in the "organic" farming community, believing that high quality, environmentally responsible crops don't need the USDA's stamp of approval.
We welcome all questions and feedback about our growing practices. Email me at: liberty@downtoearthfarm.net
Sustainability requires a respect for the physical environment as well as respect for the natural rights of individuals to maintain ownership over themselves, their relationships with others, and their property.
As a result of our respect for others' private property and the fruits of their labor, we do not accept any USDA or Washington state subsidies and grants, nor do we support tariffs on our competitors goods! None. Period.
Subsidies and grants are paid for by our neighbors through taxes, undermining the relationship between each of us as neighbors, taxpayers, voters, politicians and consumers by pitting one special interest against another to lobby for a cut of other people's hard earned money.
Farm subsidies and grants contribute to many farms having a competitive disadvantage because the subsidized farms (often the very large ones) can sell their products for less than the actual cost to produce it.
We believe the taxpayer is better served when they freely choose which businesses they want to support, rather than leaving it up to the well-intended bureaucrats thousand of miles away.
We love getting to know our customers. Visit us at Farmers Markets and follow us on Facebook for the latest announcements.
